Early Thursday morning witnessed a total lunar eclipse. In the synthetic photo, the moon starts to disappear behind the earth`s shadow between the hips of Dongdaemun, a traditional gate in Seoul. A lunar eclipse occurs when the sun, earth and moon are in a straight alignment. According to the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, the moon began to be shadowed by the earth at 2:23 a.m. and was completely overshadowed at 4:22 a.m.
