Reports on North's missiles unclear

During a press conference after the summit between the Russian and North Korean leaders, Russian President Vladimir Putin disclosed that the North had peaceful intentions concerning its rocket development program, according to several news services.

With the technological achievement that other nations already possess, the North Korean project will be for the full purpose of a peaceful space-age rocket technological program, Putin has said North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il assured him.

President Putin has revealed through the Interfax news agency that with the acceptance of certain provisions, North Korea would be willing to abandon its missile program.
