The Colorado Rockies led the Los Angeles Dodgers in the middle of the sixth inning.
Park Chan-Ho of the Dodgers already pitched 114 and was replaced by his coaching staff. Clutching a water bottle in the dugout on the brink of failing to win his 10th victory for the sixth game in a row, Park was blaming himself for allowing a two-run homer.
But a dramatic rally began at the bottom of the sixth. Grudzielanek singled and Sheffield walked with no out. Shawn Green blasted a three-run homer to make it 4-3, thus helping Park to gain his coveted 10th win of the season.
Park (10-7) overcame a series of obstacles to earn the victory, his first since June 18. Park allowed five walks and four hits for three runs, but was able to secure the win thanks to his batters.
Sheffield hit his Major League leading 33rd homer off Masato Yoshii (4-11) in the first to open the scoring, and Green hit his 14th to put the Dodgers ahead 4-3.
Park has now gained double-digit wins for four consecutive years since 1997, consolidating his position in the Major League as a convincing starter.
In addition, Park has won both his two games against Japanese pitchers, Masato and Hideki Mirabu of the Montreal Expos, with his first victory in the League opener April 5.
Park, lowering his ERA to 4.2301, will pitch against the Rockies at the Coors Field at 10 a.m. July 20.
