To celebrate 10 years of affiliation between the two cities, the city of Paris has decided to start construction of "Seoul Park" in Paris in November. The park will be completed within a year and is scheduled to open in November 2001.
For the construction of the park, the city of Seoul has completed the study and judging phases for proposals and designs for the first-phase blueprint of the park.
Seoul also has formed a consultative committee to work in conjunction with Paris to advise on the elements of Korean cultural heritage and to preserve its, as the blueprint of the park is to be completed by November. For the proposals and design for the park, six companies submitted models, and the Samsung Everland submission was chosen.
The Seoul Park in Paris will be constructed over an area of 1,400 pyong within a park located in Paris¡¯s 16th district.
The park will contain a lake, a hill of pine trees and a rest/observation point for those who enjoy looking at the moon. The overall park design will reflect the natural beauty and traditional culture of Korea. The park ground has been provided by the city of Paris free of charge or taxes.
