Kim Se-Jin, a 26-year-old volleyball star for Samsung Fire and Maritime Insurance who enjoys a bit of celebrity status, has been chosen to lead the procession of Korea`s Olympic Team at the Sydney Summer Olympic Games.
"We have decided to accept the choice made by the executive board members of the Olympians for the Sydney Summer Games (Represented by Lee Sang-Chul) to have Kim Se-Jin carry our national flag at the head of the procession," the Korea Sports Council announced August 8.
To lead the subgroups of the men and women Olympians, the men`s fencing team member Lee Sang-Ki, 34, of Iksan City, and archery team member Kim Soo-Nyung, 29, of Yaechun Ward, have been chosen.
However, should an agreement to have the South`s and North`s Olympic teams march together be struck, a negotiation for the question of the flag-carrier and head man for the procession will need to be held.
