The Korean men's and women's judo teams' discouraging performance ended their medal hunt.

At the exhibition hall in Sydney September 17, Jang Jae-sim, who competed in the Woman¡¯s 52kg match, and Han Jin-hwan, who fought in the man¡¯s 66kg match, were both disqualified early in the first or second round.

Chang Jae-sim, who won the first round by default, was soundly defeated by gold medal candidate Noriko Narazaki of Japan in the second round. On the other hand, Han Ji-hwan, who put up a good fight, lost to '99 world judo champion Larbi Banboudaoud (France) by one point just 1 second before the match ended.
