With a glorious first victory for the soccer team in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, the Korean soccer team keeps its hopes lit for the possibility of making the final eight.

The Korean team won 1-0 Sept. 17 against Morocco in a B-group preliminary match at the Adelaide Stadium with the superb winning goal by Lee Chun-Soo (19) eight minutes into the second half.

The win against Morocco gives Korea a 1-1 record for the Games, and a win against Chile on Sept. 20 might put Korea in position to join the final eight in the Olympic Games for the first time, depending on the result of Spain-Morocco match-up.

Japan, on a upward streak, beat out Slovakia 2-1 and recorded its second victory against Brazil taking Japan one step closer to the list of eight.

The Korean baseball team belted out 11 hits in a 10-2 victory against Italy in the first round of the full league matches.
