Park Chan-ho notched his career-high 16th win, tying the record for an Asian pitcher in the Major League.

Park, who shut out Arizona Diamondback batters for eight innings at the Los Angeles Dodgers Stadium Wednesday, was looking at the empty sky silently in the dugout, as if he was leaving everything to Heaven. The final result was the Dodgers' 1-0 victory.

With the help of his batters, who have troubled him throughout the season with poor performances, Park recorded his highest number of wins since he debuted in the Major League four years ago. He also lowered his ERA significantly to 3.53.

Sixteen wins are not only the highest number for him, but ties the record set by Hideo Nomo of Japan, now pitching for the Detroit Tigers, who once was Park's teammate in 1997.

Park is scheduled to pitch two more games, and there is an increasing possibility that he will attain the best record as an Asian pitcher. Park will try for his 17th win against the San Diego Padres on Sept. 25.
