The government is reviewing plans to exclude minor misdemeanors such as traffic accidents from its criteria for automatic dismissal to reinforce stability in public offices.
An official from the government revealed Sunday that many public servants have been purged from their posts because of traffic accidents, as the law governing public officials dictates they meet the criteria for dismissal.
The official revealed that the government will promote the amendment of the law by detailing the list of crimes that call for an automatic dismissal and changing dismissal to fines or penalties for minor misdemeanors such as traffic accidents.
The current law makes it possible to automatically dismiss public servants without a separate review by a personnel committee if they fit the criteria for automatic dismissal. Other criteria include being imprisoned or released on probation with fines, as well as being incorrigibly bankrupt, incompetent or quasi-incompetent.
