The National Assembly resumed its plenary session Monday afternoon and acted on six bills, including the law on financial holding companies and revisions to the minimum wage law. The legislation has a direct bearing on the people, and had been held off for a long time on account of the stalled assembly, which remained in recess for 38 days since it held an opening ceremony on Sept. l.

Other laws passed were those on: investment firms for corporate restructuring; amendment to the Foreign Exchange Law; revision of the Income Tax Law; and amendment to the law for limiting exceptions to taxation.

Passage of these laws will accelerate the job of the administration to restructure the business sector and bolster the welfare benefits of the people. The lawmakers also agreed to conduct the parliamentary inspection and audit of government for 2000 for 20 days from Oct. 19 to Nov.
