National Assembly Speaker Rep. Lee Man-Sup said Monday that the impeachment motions against Prosecutor General Park Soon-Yong and Deputy Prosecutor General Shin Seung-Nam "should be dealt with rationally in accordance with the National Assembly Law, and it is inevitable for it to be reported to the plenary session."

Lee made the remarks on the issue that caused a confrontation between the ruling and opposition parties in a meeting between floor leaders of the two parties -- Rep. Chung Kyun-Hwan of the Millennium Democratic Party and Rep. Chung Chang-Hwa of the Grand National Party at his office in the National Assembly building.

"Since the ruling and opposition parties are poled apart against each other over the issue, I will have them handle it through sufficient discussions while proceeding already agreed floor schedules such as the president's policy speech Nov. 8, keynote speeches by party leaders Nov. 9-10 and the Nov. 13-17 interpolation," the speaker told the floor leaders.

Lee also said: "It used to be a usual practice in the past not to make a report on such an impeachment motion to the plenary session to hear the president's speech and party leaders' speeches. I think that the rival parties will be able to discuss fully whether the impeachment motion against Prosecutor General Park and Deputy Prosecutor General Shin can make an agenda.

Lee made it clear that the report would be made after Nov. 17, when the parliamentary questioning of the administration ends.
