100 million won provided piano award

Renowned pianist Han In-Ha, 85, a professor of music at Kyung Hee University, visited Dong-A Ilbo on Tuesday and delivered to Dong-A president Oh Myung 100 million won to be used for the Han In-Han Award.

The Han In-Ha Award will be given to the highest achiever at the Dong-A Music Competition in the piano category slated to start in 2001. The cash award will be 10 million won each year, but 5 million for the winner in 2001.

Han has been a judge at the Dong-A Music Competition on 10 occasions since 1965, and she is the first woman pianist in Korea to have performed Beethoven`s Symphony No. 5, "The Emperor" with the Seoul City Orchestra in 1956.
