Since the June inter-Korean Summit, the interchange between private organizations and people, which had been far from active, has begun to show signs of livelihood.

The Federation of Korean Trade Unions and the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions have scheduled a first-ever meeting, the "Inter-Korean Workers' Talks on Unification," on Dec. 11 to 14 with the North Korean Chosun Trade Confederation at Mount Kumkang.

Also scheduled is a concert by the 1970s singing star Lee Mi-Ja, 60, from Dec. 17 to 21.

In addition, the World Boxing Council (WBC) light flyweight champion Choi Yo-Sam will visit North Korea for three nights and four days starting Dec. 9, along with the president of Viva Promotion, Shim Young-Ja, the sponsor of the boxer. During their visit, they will discuss and decide on the scheduling for the upcoming championship bout around Jan. 20 of next year.

Also scheduled for early next year is the "Millennium Unification Concert" with the soprano Shin Young-Ok and cellist Chang Han-Na and others and sponsored by CnA Korea, Inc., on Jan 5.
