The nation's first newspaper museum will open on Dec. 15 in Seoul. The Dong-a Ilbo said Friday that the museum, known as the Presseum, will be situated on the third and fourth floors of the Dong-a Media Center in Kwanghwamoon.
Presently, only seven countries around the world, including the United States, Japan, Germany and Britain, have newspaper libraries. With the opening of the Presseum, Korea with a 117-year-long history of newspapers, will also be included on that list. The nation's first newspaper, the Hansung Sunbo, was launched in 1883.
The museum will exhibit thousands of materials related to the history of the Korean press and offer visitors a chance to get better acquainted with the origins of the national media.
The museum will offer a glimpse of the past, present and future of newspapers through a wide range of exhibitions on all aspects of newspaper production.
