Baritone Kang Hyung-Kyu wins top prize in international contest

Baritone Kang Hyung-Kyu, currently working in Italy, won the Bilbao International Singing Competition following his recent first-place performance at the Maria Calas International Competition.

Kang won both the top prize and the special prize in the male category at the 8th Bilbao International Singing Competition in Spain on Dec. 5.

The victories, worth 1.2 million peseta, also earned Kang the right to be lead singer at the Bilbao Aria Theater next year.

Kang graduated from the Music College at Kyunghee University and Italy`s Verdi National Music Academy.
