Female university graduates flocked to apply for entrance examinations of Naval Academy this year, recording the competition ratio of 27 to one.
According to the Navy authorities on Monday, a total of 538 female graduates from the 14 colleges and universities including Yonsei, Korea and Ehwa Womans', applied for the admissions to the academy which is to recruit 20 cadets for the first time.
The Navy Academy conducted written tests according to the regions on Sunday and interviews and physical checks on Monday, and is scheduled to announce the final results on Feb. 23, next year. The successful candidates will be admitted to the school in early March and be commissioned as the second lieutenant in early July after going through training course.
The cadets will be assigned to specific branches first and undergo drills in such fields as, except for piloting, general aviation affairs, supplies, accounting, military police and even navigation branch requiring naval battle.
