[From readers] Korea needs own English tests

After reading the article, "The reissue fee for TOEIC test records is as much as 3,000 won," which appeared as a Readers' letter on Page A7 of the Dec. 15 edition, I wrote this letter.

The 3,000 won is too expensive to reissue the test records. Also, the TOEIC test application fee has been hiked to 28,000 won. I've heard that a part of the fee is being sent to the United States for expenses in giving marks.

By the way, I've heard that a private institute has organized the TOEIC test. Why should the Korean people pay the United States while getting a job in the Korean society and help a third private institute rake in profits?

The government is required to develop state-authorized tests, which can evaluate English ability.
