Buddhist monk Hyongak to hold lecture at Kilsang Temple

Buddhist monk Hyongak, 37, dubbed the ``Buddhist with blue eyes,`` will hold a lecture meeting at 10 a.m. Sunday in Kukrak Hall at Kilsang Temple in Songbuk-dong, central Seoul. The American monk, who recently came out of winter seclusion, will give a lecture on resisting materialism, the independent life and spiritual enlightenment.

Hyongak`s 1999 book, ``Brutality: From Harvard to Hwagye Temple`` was a bestseller here. Born in New Jersey, Hyongak studied philosophy and literature at Yale University and the philosophy of religion at the Graduate School of Harvard University.
