President Kim Dae-Jung, also head of the ruling Millennium Democratic Party (MDP), Sunday named Rep. Lee Hae-Chan as the party`s chief policymaker, replacing Rep. Namgoong Suek.
Party spokesman Rep. Kim Young-Hwan said, ``In order to address pending problems concerning the separation of the roles of doctors and pharmacists, growing deficits in the medical insurance system and education reform, the President reappointed Rep. Lee, a member of the Supreme Council, who has previously dealt with these issues.``
Rep. Lee is a well known strategist in the ruling camp, with considerable experience in planning and policymaking. He was elected to the National Assembly four times and twice served as chief policymaker.
