The ruling New Millennium Democratic Party held a Supreme Council meeting yesterday to discuss the measures of the overall reformation of the Party, which had been demanded by the rectification campaign group or the young caucus. However, they only revealed the differences in their perspectives.
Rep. Hahn Hwa-Kap called to reprimand the responsible senior secretary to the President in relation to the ignorance of the verification of the former Justice minister Ahn Dong-Soo.
Rep. Kim Keun-Tae also asserted, ``The current situation is a grave crisis of the national administration.`` To re-gain the support of the people, the Party should be re-born and the responsible persons in the related position have to take responsibilities.
Rep. Chung Dong-Young emphasized that the President has to keep his promise for ``the overall reformation of the administration, which the people had long requested.``
However, Supreme members Rhee In-Je, Chung Dai-Chul, Chang Eul-Byong said that it is not recommendable to dispute about a specific person, rather the question is not about who is responsible for the incident but how to establish a better operating system of the national administration.
Rep. Park Sang-Cheon suspected an alternative motive of the young caucus, ``[If they] truly wanted a reformation of the Party, they should have demanded it to the Supreme Council. And if the Supreme Council did not accept their requests, they could have attempted for different actions. But the young caucus directly opted for the public action. I am curious about their true intention.``
Responding to them, Representative of NMDP Kim Jung Kwon stated, ``The Party has to reform what had been requested. But it does not look good for the young caucus and others to dispute with each other.``
Rep. Kim is to listen to all of the opinions at the Pary`s congressional workshop in Hotel KyoYuk MunWha HoeKwan (the Education Culture Center) today and will report the Party`s conclusive position to the President at the weekly report on June 2.
Meanwhile, the members of the young caucus, including Rep. Kim Tae Hong, Lee Jae-Joung, Jong Bum Goo, gathered to discuss whether to request the change of the Party`s Representative but their votes were divided 50-50.
