The Ministry of the National Defense Has Wasted Tens of Billions Won

It is disclosed that the Ministry of the National Defense has wasted tens of billions won by selecting Ssang-Young Information and Communication company who is not eligible for the project of KCTC as a priori negotiation partner. The company does not meet the qualification for the central control system with substandard communication area and networking area.

The army also wasted 1.5 billion and 29 million Won by purchasing unnecessary software for the brigade’s main computer system. The army made a contract although the current system was not changed. Accordingly it wasted 20.95 million won per month for the system which currently does not function.

This news was disclosed in the report submitted to Sim Jae-Chul(who is a member of the Grand National Party) by the Ministry of the National Defense on the 24th.

The Board of Audit and Inspection of Korea ordered punishment on the eight people who are related to the purchase of Oricon control system for Air defense Missile, totaling 38.1 billion won for 14 units, based on the false tax report. Accordingly, the army wasted 1 billion 265 million and 510 thousand Won.

According to the report, National Defense Science Research Center damaged the sonar detection sensor by TASS, by failing to adhere to the operational specifications during the joint U.S-Korea Submarine Training Exercise, and wasted 1.6 billion Won. Moreover, it is revealed that the Army over stocked spare parts for anti-tank vehicles and destroyed 3.6 billions Won worth of spare parts.

It also has been revealed that the Army Base established 22.31 million Won of natural disaster relief fund and only distributed 20.46 million Won to a certain broadcasting company, retaining 1.85 million Won. It also wasted 100 million Won for the elimination of the golf club that was once built without permission in the green land at the third military academy.

The Army Base also appropriated 22.420 thousands pyung of private land and used it as a training ground. It also over selected military officers than permitted by the Ministry of the National Defense, 4 extra brigadier generals and 24 extra colonel.

The Army Base was ordered to correct this situation.
