New York Times reported that the Department of Defense accelerated developing a new weapon to attack the underground installations in North Korea and Iraq. It added "the Pentagon hurries to develop a new weapon penetrating the earth crust while the U.S. Air Force is bombing the suspected hide-out of al-Qaeda and the Taliban with bombs and missiles for underground tunnels."

"Though current focus is on Afghanistan, main targets are not the Islam terrorists but the biological weapons of Iraq and North Korea and one of the goals is to develop a small size weapon to blast the underground installations in North Korea which contains nuclear weapons and missiles with nuclear warheads." wrote the New York Times.

Also the paper added "the weapons that are being developed can be loaded to a supersonic cruise missiles, and they can attack tunnels and silos with high temperature and fatal pressure."

The U.S. has already developed and tested some of these weapons such as new bombs and missile warheads, and they showed superior performance to GBU 28 `bunker buster` used in Afghanistan. A ammunitions company, Boeing, announced that AGM86D missiles succeeded in blasting the internal facilities of underground targets at the missiles shooting range in White Sands, New Mexico on 29th last month. Air Force reportedly ordered 50 missiles with traditional warheads, which can reach deep into the earth.
