Mr. Kim Eun-Sung, former vice-director of the National Intelligence Service who is expected to be summoned by the Prosecution in relation to the `Jin Seung-Hyun Gate` is suddenly hospitalized by arrhythmia, a symptom of irregular pulse of heart beat.
Kim arrived at the Seoul Central Hospital in Songpa-Gu by an ambulance at 11:45 p.m. yesterday and was hospitalized after an electrocardiogram (ECG) and blood test.
According to his family, Mr. Kim complained of the pain in his chest about 10:30 p.m. and they moved him to the hospital.
A related official of the hospital said, "Mr. Kim was diagnosed with arrhythmia in March this year and was advised `to keep peace in mind` without any drug treatment. According to the electrocardiogram test, the symptom is clearly arrhythmia. And we are examining his hyperthyroidism from which he had suffered for last 10 years."
Mrs. Kim (52) said, "My husband has suffered from tremendous stress about the Prosecutors investigation and the family problem since he resigned from his office last month and has been drinking every day."
Mr. Kim allowed some reporters to visit his hospital room on the condition that `he says what he wants and takes no question` and said, "I will reveal everything by the scheduled dates of the Prosecutor`s summon."
Mr. Kim said, "no comment." responding to the question whether there exist a `Jin Seung-Hyun list`.
Previously, when the broadcast reporters visited him early in the morning, he said that "As a director of the intelligence service I had reviewed many different kinds of incidents, but there are no original copy. Why should I make such a list? It does not exist."
A hospital spokesperson said, "If the Prosecution questions about the health condition of Mr. Kim, we will report his medical condition after another diagnosis. It is not clear how long Mr. Kim has to be hospitalized."
