Lee Hoi-Chang, president of the Grand National Party, urged fair play to the ruling party and the government, saying "the ruling party may be reluctant to give up power but it has to acknowledge the choice that the people make in a fair game."
Mr. Lee said at an interview with the Donga Ilbo, "I am worried that the election might become a dirty game manipulated by political tricks and manipulation of the ruling party."
He also added, "the resignation of the President from the party`s presidency was only a starting point but there has not been actual results of the reform after the initial phase. I will probably trust him if he forms a neutral Cabinet and deals strictly with the corruption cases."
Mr. Lee also mentioned that "This is not an appropriate time for discussing the revision of the Constitution. This is a time to concentrate on the economy and reconciliation."
