[Editorial] Choeng Wa Dae`s Lie, `No Parachute`

As government backed out on its own speech, it disappointed people once again.

The personnel that they appointed Oh Wong Geun, former chief presidential press secretary as Chairman of Korea Gas Safety Corporation (KGS), the public company, ignoring the promise that they would not put any parachute personnel is the crux of the matter.

No matter it is term end for the regime, if there is no concern for the people like this, I am worried about the left 1 year.

It hasn`t been even one year that government promised people that they would select professional manager preventing parachute personnel.

Government promised people that they will compose evaluation committee of Chief Personnel in order to select objectively following democratic way, as they faced the criticism that they distributed the position of Chairman in public company like a prize.

Nevertheless, they appointed Mr.Oh without going through those procedures once again; therefore current government destroyed their reliability themselves.

How is Mr.Oh related with Gas safety work?

If the position can be taken by anybody like that, why did they establish such organization and make the position by supporting huge amount from taxes?

Seeing Mr. Oh`s experience, there is a big possibility that he hasn`t ever heard about the work regarding Gas safety in his life, before being appointed as chairman of KGS.

However people know the reason why suddenly Mr.Oh is appointed as the chairman of KGS.

He was the hero who caused severe conflict with press of domestic and abroad in connection with tax investigation of press by government last year, as he was in charge of Public Information Office.

If Cheong Wa Dae gave the position to Mr. Oh considering his this kind of activity as the big deed for government, then should we evaluate current government`s morality?

If it were not so, public reformation is weak as compared to private, however, I feel that it crossed the river because this kind of non-specialist entered public company.

How can they reform public companies by persuading public labor through this kind of personnel?

Economic burden that should dispose the harm due to non-completion of reforms of public company is for people only.

It can`t be tolerated that people should take burden of after effects of government`s distributing personnel.

Some officials of chairman evaluation committee in KGS resisted that they selected according to the request from Ministry of Industry and Resources (MIR) and MIR official in charge stated that he recommended Mr.Oh following the intention of superior authorities (Cheong wa Dae).

No matter how much good system and method there are, it is useless if the highest person who has the power related to appointment doesn`t want to utilize and follow it.

What can we expect from Government who appoints themselves exclusively not listening to people?
