Henry Kissinger, former minister of Defense in U.S (photo), said on 5th that the U.S should co-operate with China for the sake of mankind rather than frustrating China`s efforts to become superpower.

Former minister Kissinger (the then National Security Aide), who achieved former President Richard Nixon`s visit to China in 1972, said like this at an address, which was held at Washington Press Club, remembering 30th anniversary of Shanghai Joint declaration.

Former minister Kissinger stressed, “ The power of China and its influence, which is increasing in East Asia and World stage, is the fate of China, therefore, the U.S shouldn`t reject this” and “the U.S should do its best to seek measures to work together with this potential partner for the sake of profit of mankind.”

He pointed out, “ history hasn`t said that only one superpower will exist forever in history” and “the U.S can`t block other country to obtain some of property which the U.S. possesses.”

He added that stability of U.S-China relations in future depends on 3 main factors such as △ Does the U.S maintain policy of `one China`? △ Does China understand that the U.S is concerned with the peaceful development in China? △ Do related people surrounding Taiwan matter control themselves in order not to give rise to risk of a head-on collision?
