Exports in April to Jump High

Exports are likely to rise much in April turning up from 13 months` decreasing.

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) on the 7th forecasted in its `prospects on foreign market in April` that Korea`s exports in April will reach 13.7 to 14.6 billion dollars rising by 13-20 percent from last April and 2-9 percent from March this year.

This report was compiled after the World-wide Network of KOTRA collected the demand for import from 1250 buyers importing Korean goods and 624 local trading companies.

By category, wireless telecommunication devices, automobiles, computers, and household appliances are predicted to do well, and semiconductors and ships will maintain firmly, while textiles and steel are staying in a poor way. Kim Cheol-Hee Chief of Market Research Division in KOTRA said, “exports are obviously in the upward trend as exporting orders during January to March increased by 50 percent from the same period last year. ”
