[Editorial] Is Victory In Elections Prior To Economy?

The news that minister of Finance and Economy and vice Prime-Minister Jin-Nyum is likely to decide contesting for Gyeong-gi Governor shows that the ruling party can go to any limit in order to win elections.

It is his freedom whether he runs or not, however, his shilly-shally attitude being a public figure disappoints us a lot.

If we see his changed speech like, “I will consider if it`s necessary” after denying contesting strongly, saying “it spoils economy” in March last, I feel that vice-Prime Minister Jin has quality of existing politicians.

If he joins politics, contrary to his appeal, “let the politics do not shake the economy”,

our economy will leave absurd record of being led by non-reliable vice Prime minister.

The worse thing is reaction of politicians and Cheong Wa Dae.

By trying to send vice-Prime Minister Jin to elections with tenacity, MDP is showing its way of thinking that is only winning in local governor elections, regardless of economy.

It seems that it wants to win in major elections, after winning in local elections; however, we should observe how people judge the ruling party that thinks lightly of the economy.

In addition, Cheong wa Dae should state its clear stance on this issue.

President Kim Dae Jung said that he will concentrate on national affairs only, not involving in politics, however, if President allows the situation which needs reformation, what does it mean?

That is why; plotting theory and mind of Kim are floating.

It hasn`t been even three months since he stated to remain vice-Prime Minster for the sake of consistent economic policy.

I wonder if the consistency is not needed now.

It is sad reality of our economic history as seniors in this field are few because most of the personnel`s who used to deal with economic policy shifted to politics.

Would vice Prime-Minster Jin add an ill example once more?
