Nigerian Plane Crashes, 180 People Dead

Airplane belonging to Nigeria EAS Airline, which carried 76 people such as 7 crew members and 69 passengers crashed near residential area after taking off from Kano airport, Northern Nigeria, leaving 180 people dead, reported foreign news on 4th.

Kano airport concerned said, “airplane crashed in residential area which is 1 km away from airport while going to capital Lagos after taking off from airstrip at 1: 45 P.M (local time)” and “74 passengers and 100 inhabitants died except one passenger and one hostess”.

The person concerned said, “collapsed flight is 1-11-50 model which British aerospace company manufactured ”and “ we are looking for black box in order to identify the reason for the accident”.

In Nigeria, 153 passengers died as Boeing 727 flight collapsed while trying to land at Lagos airport in November, 1996 and 176 people died in 1973, as Boeing 707 flight slipped down on airstrip and caught fire while trying to land at Lagos airport. Safety regulation of flights is insufficient in Nigeria, therefore, some foreign embassies advise not to use Nigerian air flight during staff`s official trip.
