The Power and Threat of United Community

Due to the World Cup, Korea is in a fever of excitement. A matter of primary concern is the circumstance of the soccer rather than the soccer itself. There is a concentration of the national power. There is no regional hostility among Honam, Youngnam and Seoul. Only the Republic of Korea exists. The phenomenon of a national solidarity is power to make a country as a genuine community.

However, in a different point of view, the united power implies serious danger because unless we know the direction of the power movement. If a united power moves toward negative destination, there is no tool to stop the movement. We have already known the results from the creative and destructive movement of a united power in the history.

Sometimes, we hear the appeal ‘let’s unite the power ’, but we should beware it. There will be several methods of the uniting power. If we need to unite power, we should to do that with a tool controlling the direction. To control the direction, people have to unite with minding their wills and individualities. If individuals disappear during the process of the uniting power, it will result in the power with the possibility of danger.

The feature of a community with united power can be distorted. Totalitarianism has the feature of communitarian that melt individual’s will and individuality in a furnace. It is a system in which the members became united and any criticism can’t appear. If this kind of power combines with a leadership, the power will move terribly toward any direction the leader orders.

If we value the power of a community, we have to find a path to develop the power. The path is to build a community that appreciates individuals. The individuals have to build a community with keeping their individuality. This is the right way to develop the community with health.

The community in which individuals’ will is melted has highly strong power that can not be overcome by any community organized in other methods. If the leadership chooses positive direction, the power will demonstrate marvelous driving force to the direction and will play the key role in history. However, if the power combines with negative leadership, it will result in terrible destruction. ‘All or nothing’ is a favorite game only for gamblers. The key players of the history should not involve in the game.

Even if we are in a fever of excitement with peoples in soccer ground, in street supporting, besides we have to look for the entity of ‘me’, not ‘us’, and look for the entity of ‘individual’ not for ‘leader’. It is a necessary condition for us to demonstrate the power of the community positively without involving in the gamble of history.
