The vacation period of the US President George W. Bush is arousing keen public controversy. The President Bush is planning to enjoy a vacation at his house in the Crowferd Ranch, Texas for 28 days from the 6th of next month to September 2, but people are saying it is too long. He was also the topic of a gossip last year because he spent a summer vacation for 31 days. It is the longest vacation record among the US Presidents to spend 31 days.
The US citizens are generally generous about the Presidents vacation. The former President Richard Nixon spent 30 days and Ronald Reagan spent 28 days for a summer vacation. His father, former president George Bush also commanded the Gulf War at the Canebunk Port in Maine, which was his vacation spot, in 1991. This kind of vacation routine has been recognized to prove the fact that the US was a country to be controlled by a system as well as the President could leave the White House for a long period of time.
However, it is different this year. From a certain part, there is a pointing out saying, This is not the time. They are saying that he considers people too lightly by saying to rest for a month when the economy is seriously dropping. The Democratic Governor of Maryland Parrys Glendaning made cynical remark on the 23rd, The people will see the pictures transmitted from the ranch every other day instead of the leadership of the President who actively intervenes in finance and international crises.
In response to that, the White House Spokesman Erry Flisher refuted, That was an inappropriate and disappointing remark, and it is just to move the Presidents office from Washington to Texas. This is a working vacation same as last year.
Anyhow, the Washington political avenue is also entering to the real summer vacation season with the President Bushs long vacation. The Vice President Dick Chenny plans to spend his vacation in Wyoming, and top leaders of the government such as the State Secretary Collin Powel and the Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and the head staff members of the White House are also leaving to their vacation spots. The Senate will be closed from August 5 to September 3, and the House will be closed from July 29 to September 2.
