Opening the Medals of Busan Asian Games to the Public

Gold, silver and bronze metals of Busan Asian Games which will be started from September 29, were open to the public.

Busan Asian Games Organizing Committee (BAGOC) opened commemorative medals and certificates granted to executives and players finally notified from 44 participating countries as well as the gold, silver and bronze metals on September 19.

Produced by Korea Minting & Security Printing Corporation (KOMSEP), the gold metal of Busan Asian Games is 140g and 6㎝ of a diameter. It is the gold-plated medal. The silver and bronze metals of the same weight and diameter are made of a pure solver and pure coppers.

For Olympics, the gold medal must be produced mixing 6g of pure gold.

The head of Busan Asian Games’ metals has the principles of Um and Yang of rings symbolizing OCA established 34 countries in the outer, and a burning sun symbolizing OCA Emblem in the center regardless of gold, silver and bronze metals. The back of the medals expresses a harmony and friendship of participating players with the sacred flame on Oryugdo symbolizing Busan.

There are 42 official count medals of Busan Asian Games. There are total 1356 medals including 420 gold medals, 420 silver medals and 516 bronze medals through detailed events. When including all participating players of team sports such as a soccer and basketball, there are total 3030 medals which are actually granted.

However, out of the game events known as initial 420 detailed events, the game for the woman yacht doesn’t have any participant and so total 419 detailed games will be progressed. Accordingly, total medals will decrease including 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal.

Besides, the prizewinners from 1st to 6th place are granted for the certificate and the records are accepted officially in Asian Games.
