There was no majority winner at the first vote of the Brazilian Presidential election, which drew attention because whether there would be a ‘left oriented President’ or not, so the runoff election would be happened on the 27th.

According to the TSE of Brazil, as in the afternoon of the 6th, when the opening of the ballot was done by 80%, the candidate of the left oriented Brazilian Workers Party (PT), Louis Inacio Lula Da Silva (54) got 46.6%, and the leader of the reigning parties, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (PSDB), Jose Seja got the second position with 23.8%.

The candidate Lula, who was a labor worker, was predicted that he might be won the election at the first vote with help of the unheard support of some enterprisers and middle class voters, but most of the middle class voters turned their faces away at the last minute because of the fear of left oriented regime.

The candidate Lula, who did not receive regular educations, showed his nerve with the support of low class citizens and the poor, when the free market policy of the reigning party failed.

According to the results of different surveys, the candidate Lula would lead the candidate Seja at the second vote, which those two candidates would face each other.

However, it is difficult to conclude because the support rate of the candidate Seja is climbing. Especially, the international financial market still keeps sharp eyes on him, so the value of the Brazilian currency Leal has been drastically reduced; therefore, it is analyzed that the general situation might be turned toward the candidate Seja.

The association of parties before the second vote can be an important factor, too. It is because the poll precedence can be changed according to the result of the association of parties and political groups.

The candidate Lula, who have enter the Presidential campaign for 4 times, recognized the worries around him about his radical inclination, and showed near middle way position for last two months.

He promised that he would keep the economic policies of this current government and not to declare the Moratorium in order to remove the worries of middle class citizens and the foreign investors. And he also announced that he would observe the 30 billion dollar debt liability to the IMF.

He stressed, “To make more jobs and to solve the poverty will be the first priority, and I will not do the populist reformation like the Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.”
