“To Serve is Life”

About 50 noted personalities of each field such as scholars aged 80, present President of University, former minister and ambassador in Korea, lawyers, priests, etc will become fashion model in order to extend volunteer culture.

Volunteer 21 (Chairman, former minister of education, Lee Myung-hyun), which is a volunteer group, and community for mature society (Representative, vice-chairman of academy, Kim Tae-gil) will hold a unique fashion show “Volunteer as fashion of times” at convention center, Sejong art center on 18th, 7:30 P.M. Various faces of models will line the stage.

Besides representative 82 year old Kim tae-gil, Chairman of academy, Lee Ho-wang, former minister of education, Kim sok-hee and Park young-sik (Present president of Gwang-un University), lawyer Lee Se-jung, President of Protestant Episcopal University, Kim Sung-soo, Priest Park Hong, President of Seoul Women’s university, Lee Gwang-ja, Professor of Ehwa Women’s University, Jeong dae-hyun, Chief of People’s solidarity for participatory democracy, Park Won-sun, C.E.O of Hyumax, Byun Dae-gyu, Chairman of Madamfora, Lee Chul-woo, Prosecutor Gwang ji-won, vocalist Park In-soo, etc.

As regards diplomatic corps in Korea, Holland ambassador Hein de Bris and representatives of UNDP, Ann IsabelDgriz Blato are anticipated as well as civil volunteer members like children, youth, student, housewives, etc.

Attendants will wear what they want to wear, such as religious persons in religious uniforms and artiste in artiste attire.

They will be taught simple walking style by ‘real’ models before the event.

Volunteer 21 planned this show in early August under the slogan of ‘ advanced volunteer nation is real advanced nation’.

Those who were reluctant to be model due to ‘fashion show’, also promised to attend after listening to such ideas.

Chairman of Volunteer 21, Lee Myung-hyun explained, “ Korea society is facing crisis of reliability due to weak morality” and “ reliability is ‘social capital’, therefore, we planned this event to recover reliability through volunteer service”.

Chairman of Academy, Lee Ho-wang said, “ Aged men are little shy on going to fashion show, but, I agreed to the opinion that let’s us live honestly sharing life, so I decided to participate”.

President of Gwang-un University, Park young-sik, who will wear check patterned casual jumper and trousers, said, “ I hope that this stage will inspire leadership as a role model for the society and spirit”.

Prosecutor Kang Ji-won, who will wear his favorite ‘Roman color’ shirt, said, “ I chose free and active style clothes because formal suit with neck tie gives standardized feeling”.

‘Fashion show by noted personality’ will add traditional touch such as ‘ground for joyfulness’, ‘ground for encouragement’, ‘ ground for participation and sharing’ and there will be a concert by pan-so-ri, man duet tem, wind quintet and disabled singers.

Vocalist Park In-soo, who will sing in this event, said, “ as we can warm the hearts by song, I hope to warm this society by practicing love for neighbor, through this fashion show.”
