Men Basketball, First Dramatic Victory in 20 Years

Korean National Basketball team overcame Chinese Great Wall first for last 20 years and gained gold medal in Asian game.

However, unfortunately, Women Basketball was defeated by China and gained only silver medal.

On the 14th, in the final game of Men Basketball game in Sajik Sports center, Korea defeated China in extended game by 102-100 dramatically.

The gold medal for men Basketball in Asian game was first for last 20 years since the New Deli Asian Game in 1982.

At immediate 17.7 seconds before the last quarter, the intercept by Kim Seung-hyun was succeeded 3 points shot by Moon Kyung-eun and just became just behind China by 88-90. A dramatic success of shot by Hyun Ju-yup at immediate 4.7 seconds before the buzz made the game tie score.

In the extended game, Korea led the game by the Seo Jang-hun’ shot. 21.5 seconds before the last buzz Korea led by 101-98, but allowed 3 free throw to Whoiweidong because of Moon Kyung eun`s fault and was chased by 1 point. However, Moon Kyung-eun solidified the victory with free throw 3 seconds before the game.

In women Basketball opened before the Men Basketball, Korea looked to win by the play of Chung Sun-min (29 points, 7 rebounds) and Kim Young-ok (15 points, two of 3 point shots). However, in the last stage Korea kept the pace and lost the game by 76-80 and gained silver medal.

In the last quarter, by the success of Kim Young-ok`s consecutive two of 3 points shots, Korea chase to China by 61-65. Korea led the game in the middle of the last quarters by 74-67. However, Korea allowed Chinese Zenlei and Suipeipei consecutive shots and fail to win the game.
