Kim Hye-soo has big and sexy lips and Song Hey-gyu has small and full lips. Those lips look different but have one thing in common – they are smooth and moist. You need to take good care of your lips at this time of the year when lips get easily dry and chapped.

Unlike other parts of skin, lips do not have perspiration and skin glands and have a thin horny layer so they crack and peel more easily. If this gets serious, it develops into an infection.

When people have lips cracked at the end, it’s because of either this kind of infection or a fungus called `Candida.`

“It’s important to often apply baceline or lip gloss to protect your lips. When oozes come out from a sore you need to visit a doctor for wet pad treatment and steroid ointment,” advised Dr. Yeo Woon-cheol from S&U Skin Clinic in Jongro.

It’s good to have enough Vitamin B. You can apply honey or aloe gel to lips. It is also a good idea to massage your lips with essence and moisture cream and then put lap on the lips to maintain the condition for five minutes.

Wetting your lips using saliva, however, is not a good idea. Saliva has a lot of enzymes so it will irritate and dry up your lips further.

“People need to be careful not to put too much saliva on your lips either when they try to moist their lips or when they kiss,” said Yeo. If you want to have smooth and moist lips that are good for a kiss, you’d better not kiss too much.
