Prosperous ‘Incompetent’ Plastic Surgery

As illegal plastic surgeries that are unlicensed or run by unqualified people are scrambling for share in recent plastic surgery boom, side effects due to surgery are rising.

In addition, high official of Korea Independent Commission against Corruption should investigate or report corrupt officials that are revealed to run three plastic surgeries.

Dept. 2 of Detective in Seoul District Public Prosecution (Jo Geun-ho. Chief prosecutor) stated that it disclosed 21 people who ran illegal hospitals despite not being a doctor or who were recruited in such hospitals as nurses, and five were restrained, two arrested, 13 indicted and 1 indictment has been cancelled. Current medical law regulates that the one who is not a doctor can’t run or establish hospital.

▽ Damage condition = Mr. Kim (44. indictment cancelled) whom prosecutors are tracking under suspicion of opening N plastic surgery in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon by borrowing doctor license made nurse Ms. Han (indicted) to operate on patients till now since June.

According to prosecution, there were many protests by patients who got operated by Mr. Han saying that their nose twisted and eyes shape became different after operation of double-edged eyelid.

Mr. Han confessed to Prosecution that, “ I just watched freelance doctors, who didn’t belong to hospital, perform operation for months and started doing operation myself. ”

University student Ms.Park received damage to one eyelid after being operated at V plastic surgery in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul in June.

According to the prosecution, chief of the hospital Mr. Roh (39. indicted) and former nurse Ms. Jung (female. indicted) operated each eyelid of Ms. Park.

Mr. Roh who is not a professional doctor in plastic surgery hired Ms. Jung (female. Indicted) and made her operate and he assisted her like wiping blood.

Former nurse Ms. Kim (42. indicted) who ran two plastic surgery clinics illegally in Bucheon, Gyeonggi stated at prosecution, “there were many cases that doctors who are not professional in plastic surgery open independent hospital after taking operation experience of plastic surgery that unlicensed doctors run. ”

▽ Illegal management by official = Mr. Choi (47), former Chief (4 grade) of KICAC who was arrested made net profit of 13 billion won by running A hospital in three places like Apgujung-dong, Gangnam-gu and Shinchon, Seoul, etc since 1998 till recently.

Mr.Choi took over two hospitals and established it based on information that he took while working as in charge of labor wealth, which is medical related field, at arbitration office of Prime Minister in 1998~1999 and opened another plastic surgery at Apgujung-dong in August, after transferring to KICAC this February, delivered the Prosecution.
