“Trophy to Seung-ho”

“Let’s dedicate trophy to Seung-ho.”

Dongwon dreams achieved its dreams. Dongwon dreams were always no. 3 among three ice hockey teams. But, they had clear aim this season. After the accident in which Yun Tae-woon of their team killed Choi Seung-ho in Gwangun University by puck, all the players of Dongwon dreams determined, “we will dedicate trophy to Seung-ho.” And finally, their dream came true.

The game between Dongwon dreams-Halla winia on 24th, which was the second league in 2002 Gangwon cup Korea ice hockey, was held at Uiam ice sports stadium, Chuncheon. Dongwon were victorious in the game that was like final one by 3-2, leading the opposition by one point, and confirming their victory in the league.

Dongwon co-heads with Halla by 10 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses, however, if they win from Kyunghee university, which is a weak team that has 2 wins, 11 losses, on the 26th, the last day of the league, they will be the league winners, even though Halla defeats Koryo university. It will be the first time that Dongwon will become the winner of Korea league since 1997.

Hero was Shin Ui-suk (26) who changed his position from defense to forward from the second league. Shin Ui-suk who is famous as brother hockey player with elder brother Shin Ui-sam who is the ACE forward of team, made the first goal with the help of Shin Eun-soo in 3minutes 43 seconds of the first period and succeeded in scoring the second goal after 16 minutes. Defense Yun Tae-woong who is ‘hero of sorrow’ led defense boldly without caring for his body. The two who led the team to victory are very close friends.

Dongwon, conceded one goal in the second period which made 2-1, but goal by Park hun in 14minutes 53seconds of the third period confirmed their win. Halla attacked Dongwon strongly by removing goalkeeper one minute before the end and Kim Woo-jae made the recovering goal, but they were defeated successively in the first league due to Dongwon’s strong defense. It was at the hands of Dongwon only that Halla conceded two defeats in these games.

Coach of Dongwon, Kim Sam-duk was deeply moved, saying “forcing and pressing the opposition while attacking was the cause of victory ” and “I am so happy since we can keep the promise to dedicate trophy to Seung-ho. We will go to him with Champion cup of Play off, too. ”
