Lee Young-pyo (26, PSV Eindhoven) got off to a handsome start. In his debut game, Lee, known as a smart guy, made an excellent assist, making his coach Guus Hiddink happy.
The game took place yesterday in Turkey against a German pro team belonging to the group A. With number 29 on his back, Lee ran through the game, and made one assist, recording a successful debut. Only two days ago, he joined his new team.
At the beginning, Lee did not perform his best due to the jet leg. Deep into the game, he got warmed up, and fascinated the coaching staff of his team with his agility, swiftness, clear-cut passing and overlapping.
At 58`, with the German team leading the game 2-0, Lee passed the ball to Roven who shot it into the net, dashing into the left corner of the box. 15 minutes before the end, Lee induced a free kick near the left corner of the box due to the foul of the German team. Again, his team turned the free kick into a goal, which put the two teams even to each other.
Due to the excellent performance against top-notch German players, Lee is likely to secure his spot in the starting lineup.
In the meanwhile, Park Ji-sung who joined the team together with Lee, began to play as a substitute in the second half.
First, Park played in the position of the right wing. Then, he moved back to the defense line, proving himself a multiplayer. But, in the ensuing penalty kick shoot-out, he lost his chance, leading to his team`s loss.
Lee Eul-yong (28) made his first goal after his debut in Turkey. In the friendly match, he led his team to the 2-0 victory with his first goal.
Lee made inroads onto the Turkey`s pro league last September. But, due to the ankle injury, he has played only in 6 games, and his team has been reportedly considering trading him out. Thus, this goal conveys much value to him.
