Missiles Deployed Around Washington DC against Possible Terrorist Attacks

With the report of an explosion incident happened at a lecture room of Yale University located in New Haven, Connecticut on May 21st, the U.S. alertness against potential terrorist attacks are being heightened.

The U.S. Defense Department announced on May 21st that it deployed air-strike missiles around the city of Washington and enhanced air patrolling forces. This is a follow-up measures after it raised its terrorist-warning level to “Code Orange” in the previous day.

President George W. Bush said, “Like we showed in Iraq, the United States of America would not tolerate any threatening actions by terrorist organizations or rogue states using weapons of mass-destruction.”

The New York City has been maintaining its enhanced security against possible incidents since the 9.11 and, this time, it added some more securities around the city, reported New York Times.

In Boston, special police forces are watching out for potential attack targets including Fenway Park where the baseball Major League Boston Red Socks plays. Also securities for bridges, tunnels and historical sites have been strengthened,

San Francisco`s famous building the Golden Bridge as well as other major buildings and sea routes were also included for enhanced securities. They are also minding a possibility of terrorist attacks during anti-war demonstrations.

LA police force has also enhanced its patrol activities around some 600 major people gathering places such as church, airport, port and entertainment facilities.

Federal Aviation Agency re-issued a ban on flying around major sports stadiums and Washington Monument Tower.

A bomb exploded in a lecture room of Yale Law School in the afternoon of May 21st, leaving one side of wall broken down without any human casualties.

CNN reported that authorities confirmed that the explosion was caused by a bomb, but could not find out any evidence of terrorist involvement.

The explosion happened only a few hours before President arrived Connecticut to attend the graduation ceremony of Coastguard Security University.

At the scene, tens of ambulances were seen while FBI agents were bustling around to figure out exact causes of the incident.

President Bush said at the graduation ceremony, “We would not stop putting pressure on terrorists until the U.S. and the entire world become completely free from terrorist attacks.”

He emphasized, “We would hunt down all the terrorists on this globe. America would not step back from a war with terrorism”, and added, “The U.S would not allow hiding places for those terrorists as we did in Afghanistan.”
