President Roh Moo-hyun appointed Professor Yoon Sung-sik at the department of public administration of Korea University as the successor of the head of the Board of Audit and Inspection Lee Jong-nam, whose term ends September 28.
Jung Chan-yong, Presidential advisor for nomination explained the appointment, saying, Professor Yoon was highly evaluated for being an audit experts and liberal scholar with extensive knowledge in economics, business, accounting and other social studies fields.
Professor Yoon, who was an advisor of President Roh during his presidential candidate, served as a commissioner at Government Affairs Department of the Presidential Transition Committee and later at the Regional Empowerment Committee for Government Innovation a group which is under the direct auspices of the President. He is the first scholar nominated as the head of the Board of Audit and Inspection. Professor Yoon is set to be inaugurated on September 29 after his nomination hearing at the National Assembly in September.
