Taiwan has been bogged down with splits and confrontation due to the presidential election. Supporters of the Nationalist Party, which was defeated by a slight margin, are confronting police at daybreak of March 21 in an attempt to go into the Kaoshung Public Prosecutors Office that keeps the ballot box. Opposition party supporters held a nationwide demonstration to call for the recounting of ballots while insisting there was unfairness in the official counting.
