The Grand National Party (GNP) decided on May 28 to conduct a special parliamentary inquiry into the usage of public funds in the 17th National Assembly.
Kim Deog-ryong, the GNP floor leader said at the conference of major officials on that day that the people are left despondent with the result of the investigation done by the Board of Audit and Inspection that found 1.76 trillion won of public funds were wasted. He added, Though the investigation into the last Assemblys fund usage was canceled, this time we will come up with proper measures to carry out various in-depth investigations regarding the expenditure of public funds when the new Assembly opens.
Chairman Lee Gang-doo of the policy committee also added: we will devise proper measures regarding this matter, analyzing detailed facts within the Assembly as a whole when undertaking a parliamentary investigation.
