After 130 years, the celestial showing of “Venus Going through the Surface of the Sun Phenomenon” on June 8 was observed in the Korean sky. With cloudy skies throughout the country, this rare phenomenon was observed between the clouds when the sun momentarily peeped out.

Children at the Seoul National Science Museum are looking for Venus on the surface of the sun with special glasses (above). This celestial show of Venus started at 2:12 p.m. and lasted for six hours. A black dot in the lower left corner of the picture of the sun (right) taken from the rooftop of the Dong-A Ilbo building in Seoul at 5:20 p.m. is Venus.
