A total of 1,360,000 pyong in the areas of Namyang and Byeongjeom in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, Daeshil District in Gyeryong, South Chungcheong Province, and one other district will be designated as urban development districts.
The Ministry of Construction and Transportation yesterday announced a development plan for each of these three areas and said it will officially designate them as urban development districts during the first half of next year after circulating plans to local residents and discussing them with relevant organizations.
A total of 783,000 pyong in candidate areas of Hwaseong include Namyang-dong and Bukyang-dong, 45km from downtown Seoul. Administrative facilities such as police stations, offices of education, and registry offices will be mainly situated in these areas. A total of 14,000 houses, including 5,300 rental houses, will be provided.
Byeongjeom district, which is sited in an 116,000 pyeong area in Byeongjeom-ri, Taean-eup, Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, is about 30km away from downtown Seoul. A branch office of Hwaseong City Hall, stores, officetels, an advanced research development center, a subway station, and other facilities will be built in this area. Residential facilities such as apartments will not be built in nearby areas of Dongtan, a new town in Hwaseong City.
Daeshil district in Gyeryong will be developed as an environmentally-friendly residential complex, and a total of 7,400 houses, including 1,900 rental houses, will be built there.
