On December 26, Indonesias Sumatra and neighboring East Asian regions were hit by a strong earthquake of 8.9-degree magnitude. Other than seismic damage, the earthquake was accompanied by high tides. In addition to the epicenter, Indonesia, countries including Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Moldives were affected.
