Tidal Waves Hit Phuket

On December 26, Indonesia’s Sumatra and neighboring East Asian regions were hit by a strong earthquake of 8.9-degree magnitude. Other than seismic damage, the earthquake was accompanied by high tides. In addition to the epicenter, Indonesia, countries including Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Moldives were affected. The photo shows devastated houses and boats off the beach of Phuket, Thailand’s tourist destination, which were swept aground into the roads.
