China Launches Second Manned Space Mission

China’s manned spacecraft launch technology has taken another step. China launched its second manned spacecraft, the Shenzhou VI (above) from a base in Jiuquan City in Gansu Province on October 12. China’s first manned space mission was launched in 2003. Below is a photo of employees at the Shanghai Space Bureau cheering at the launch, which was broadcast live on TV.
