Gas War

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko (left) is discussing response measures to the suspension of natural gas shipments from Russia with cabinet members on January 1. Other European countries, suffering from intense cold, are also in a state of emergency. Europe receives a fourth of its total gas supply from Russia, 80 percent of which is provided through the Ukraine.
