President Roh Moo-hyun named 15 vice-ministers to nine government ministries and six governmental agencies yesterday, including Chief Secretary for the Prime Minister Lee Gi-woo as vice education minister, and Deputy Minister for Policy Management and Public Relations Park Young-il as vice minister of science and technology.
The latest cabinet reshuffling is the largest since March 2003.
Of the vice-ministers that have been working for over a year and half, First Vice Minister of Government Administration and Home Affairs Kwon Oh-ryong, Vice Minister of Unification Lee Bong-jo, and Vice Minister of Health and Welfare Song Jae-sung remained in their posts. Emergency Planning Commissioner Kim Hee-sang was notified he would be replaced, but since he is candidate for chief presidential national security secretary, he was excluded from the current reshuffling.
