Pre-Strike Tensions

France came to a halt on March 28 after strikes against the Contrat Premiere Embauche labor Law. The differences between the government, determined to put the law into effect, and labor unions and students seem too deep to be reconciled. The Gare du Nord station in Paris was desolate one day before the strike.
